TOUCH THAT DIAL

During the summer, a 5 degree higher setting on your air conditioning thermostat will save you about 10% on cooling costs (for those days a fan just won't cut it!). During the winter, lowering the temperature 3 to 5 degrees can save you up to 20% on heating costs. Try keeping the thermostat at 78 degrees in the summer and 68 degrees in the winter (or lower when you are away). Make sure to dress weather appropriate. Put on a sweater before turning up the heat. Wear shorts and T-Shirts on hot days. Always take into account health considerations before messing with the thermostat and make sure to drink lots of fluids on hot days. Also remember, that cranking the dial to extremely higher temperatures does not actually warm / cool a room quicker - it just uses more energy and spends more of your hard earned money!
