Leadership Award : Pioneer
As a result of a 2004 Board of Trustees resolution on environmental stewardship and sustainable facilities, the Marin Community College District has committed all seven of its recent building modernization projects to LEED certification. It has built a 210 kilowatt photovoltaic array to power its Physical Education Center. It has joined and is implementing the President’s Climate Commitment and launched a Transportation Demand Management Program. The college’s green instructional programs include the Center of Sustainable Horticulture, Water Management and Technology Education Center and the Solar Panel Certificate Program. The Board of Trustees continues to support these efforts with appropriate funding, approvals and participation in committees and events.
