Governor Theodore R. "Ted" Kulongoski

Governor Kulongoski is currently serving his second term as the Governor of Oregon. As a Democrat, he has served in both houses of the Oregon Legislative Assembly, as the state Insurance Commissioner, the Attorney General, and an Associate Justice on the Oregon Supreme Court. As of January 2009, Mr. Kulongoski is the oldest current governor in the United States. Governor Kulongoski took the lead in Oregon on renewable energy by establishing a new state standard that will require 25 percent of the state’s electricity to come from renewable sources by 2025. He continued his fight against global warming by requiring greenhouse gas levels for the State to be reduced to 10 percent below 1990 levels by 2020.
