Green Jobs & Training
Be An Energy Auditor
What is Energy Auditing or Energy Efficiency? Energy Efficiency is very simply helping homeowners and/or business owners save money by reducing wasted energy. It is really easy to get started in this business. There are no degrees, no lengthy training or apprentice requirements, and no state or federal licensing requirements. All you need is a great training program and the business start-up tools and resources that ensure you have the best opportunity for success.
Why Energy Efficiency? Significant increases in energy prices, energy dependency concerns, economic down-turns and global warming, have made Energy Efficiency a Top-Job. There are 3 reasons why YOU need to get into Energy Efficiency Today:
1) Energy efficiency is the center of the Green Universe.
2) Virtually every "Green" career or job has energy efficiency at its center.
3) There are more potential customers in the Energy Efficiency business than in virtually any other business today.
There are 128 million homeowners and 30 million business owners in the US alone, and with incredible current demand, and with such an enormous customer base, it will take 20 years or more to get through them all. Also, this is the tip of the wave. There are new add-ons being developed every day that will expand this business again and again.
Home and business energy auditing is not new. It's been around since the 1970's. But with a new public awareness of the need to conserve energy, training courses are being offered in many localities. RESNET and BPI courses are currently accepted as industry standards but are more costly than a course run by the Energy Audit Institute's Training & Certification (EAI) or Denby Energy for example. The Institute's and Denby Energy's courses claim they enable a graduate to apply 80% of what a RESNET/BPI consultant would do in a home energy audit but without need for expensive equipment like infra-red viewers, blower doors or duct blasting. Consequently, a basic EAI or Denby consultant would take an hour for an average home's energy audit and recommend around 30% energy savings for around $100. A RESNET/BPI assessment could cost five times that amount, and take longer for not necessarily much of a greater energy saving."
