Happy Feet
While a song and dance story on the surface, Happy Feet includes some of the strongest environmental messages of any blockbuster animated film. Messages on the dangers of overfishing, global warming and the detrimental nature of plastics in our oceans populate the film and lend gravitas (albeit with a dancing penguin) to a film that could have been nothing more than a gimmick - and taking the film from cute, to Oscar winner!
Happy Feet is set deep in Antarctica. Into the land of Emperor Penguins, where each needs a heart song to attract a soul mate, a penguin is born who cannot sing. Our hero Mumble, son of Memphis and Norma Jean, is the worst singer in the world...however, as it happens, he is a brilliant tap dancer!
